Strange Atoms
Sometimes, and I’ve already written about this, I question the universe of our surrounding, our little Paradiso of the neighbourhood. How simple things turn out to be very complicated, yet subtle wrapped in a piece of reality.
What happened you might ask? Well, today, while discussing my dissertation with my father, the topic came to Flemish Primitives and the later generations, like Quinten Massys, Jan Gossaert, … until we stumbled upon Joachim Patinir and his renewal of landscape paintings. We talked about his technique, about his teacher (Massys) and how following generations followed his trademark.
Some time later we went to the library to pick up some books I had to look into for my dissertation, when all of a sudden, we passed along the section with new acquisitions and saw a book of Patinir and his life and works. What a coincidence! Or perhaps not? Perhaps nature was telling us that we were about to discover something interesting, that we were meant to go to that part of the library and look into the book. Or maybe I’m just looking too much for something too farfetched …
Anyhow, it caught us by surprise. Maybe a little Tao popping up along the way …
